    Tyler Summitt spent his entire childhood around gyms -- no surprise he wants to spend the rest of his life in one. As the son of the NCAA's winningest basketball coach, he grew up making trips to the Final Four with his mom, Pat Summitt, and doing homework with the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. "It was a lot of fun," Tyler says.

    Study: Women's teams outperform men in grad rates (AP)

    Players on teams headed to the NCAA women's tournament are graduating at a higher rate than those in the men's field, a study released Tuesday showed. An annual report by The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at the University of Central Florida also found that the graduation gap between white and black players is smaller among women than men.

    Furman women's basketball coach resigns (AP)

    Furman women's basketball coach Sam Dixon has resigned following a 7-23 season. He had coached the Southern Conference school for eight years. The school announced his resignation Tuesday and has not set a timetable for a replacement. This year's team lost 16 of 20 league games and ended the year dropping 11 of its last 12 games.

    Record number of mid majors earn spots in NCAAs (AP)

    Winning 26 games has been a guarantee to make the NCAA women's basketball tournament if you're from a BCS conference. Outside one of the power conferences, selection Monday has always been nerve-racking -- in the past decade, 10 mid-major teams reached 26 victories and still were left out. This season, however, mid majors are finally getting their due.

    Oklahoma St PG Riley suspended for NCAA opener (AP)

    No. 20 Oklahoma State is bracing for life without Riley. Andrea Riley, the nation's third-leading scorer, will serve a one-game suspension during the Cowgirls' first-round game against Chattanooga (24-8) on Saturday night in the NCAA tournament. Riley averages 26.6 points and she's also seventh in the nation with 6.5 assists.
